Register of Deeds

The Register of Deeds office contains the history record of all real estate transactions. If a register of deeds is not elected pursuant to section 32-518, the county clerk shall act as ex officio register of deeds.

Books and Indexes which are required to be kept in the office of the Register of Deeds include: Numerical Indexes for all real estate; Deed and Mortgage Records; Miscellaneous Records; Federal and State Tax Lien Indexes and Grantor/Grantee Indexes.

What does this mean?
We will no longer produce photocopies of recorded documents for physical record books, and book/page numbers will no longer be assigned. Instead, all documents will be assigned an instrument number only. All records will be stored digitally, microfilmed, and made accessible through Nebraska Deeds Online at: https://nebraskadeedsonline.us.
