Road Opening
Gosper County, NE— Gosper County announces the completion and opening of Road 749A located at Johnson Lake.
On June 26, 2026, Gosper County Highway Department will open the newly constructed road which will bypass the Johnson Lake Inlet Bridge. Road 749A, an east-west road, connects to Johnson Lake Drive with Road 425.
“The closure of the Inlet bridge in December 2025, caused countless difficulties for not only the residents of Johnson Lake, but also Emergency Services, and county operations. ” said Kelly Lehmann, Gosper County Highway Superintendent. “Shortly after the closure, the Gosper County Commissioners began actively working with the landowner, Charles Bucchholz to acquire the property necessary to build the road.”
The completion of Road 749A will improve travel, emergency response access, and connectivity for residents and visitors while plans for the Inlet Bridge replacement continue.
